Quick printing of index
Compared to multi-material units on a single extruder, dual-material IDEX printing requires less time to change filaments and creates less waste. In addition, IDEX offers the cleanest solution with two extruders that prevent cross-contamination.
Print in parallel
Cut your waiting time in half, double your productivity. IDEX is the only extrusion system with two separate extruders that move independently on the X-axis, allowing you to run two prints simultaneously.
Copy Mode : Print two identical items at once. It is especially suitable for batch printing, empowerment studios and enthusiasts. If one of the prints encounters a problem, you can stop that print without affecting the other. This mode is a life saver for a promised delivery in a tight time schedule.
Mirror mode : J1 directly mirrors your model and prints the original and the mirrored model at once. For a symmetrical model, you can import half the model and print it in Mirror Mode to reduce waiting time by 50%, perfect for quick drafts and concept models. Just like in copy mode, you can stop one print without affecting the other.
Compensation of vibrations
The J1 gives you a top-class print speed of 350 mm/s while ensuring a high resolution of the prints. It is possible thanks to the optimization of the vibration compensation technology. This technology reduces vibrations caused by high-speed movements and minimizes ringing to improve print quality. With the maximum acceleration of 10,000 mm/s², you can create small models full of details with efficiency.
Seamless extruders for switching and cornering optimization
When printing with dual extruders, the non-working extruder preheats while in standby and starts printing immediately after the working extruder exits, significantly reducing waiting time. By analyzing the directions of movement of the extruders in advance, the J1 can prevent problems such as corner bulge and provide better print quality in the corners.
Speed is guaranteed through thoughtful hardware design
One-piece casting: The J1 body consists of an upper frame and a base that are made in one piece by die-casting and four bars of aluminum alloy. Making the body with only a few highly integrated parts - an approach long used by the automotive industry - facilitates precision assembly. The J1 is so stiff and reliable with minimal wobble and deformation possible that you can print large projects one after the other for a long time and get every print of uncompromising quality.
High-precision linear rails : The industrial linear rails are manufactured with CNC grinding at the micron level, which guarantees smooth and stable movements. A significant increase in precision, stiffness and durability so you can enjoy a fast, accurate and steady manufacturing experience.
Aluminum alloy frame : J1 inherits Snapmaker's iconic all-metal design that users appreciate for its rigidity and durability. It provides better heat dissipation with the main board and power supply spread out on the base and aluminum alloy as the main material. All electronic components are well oiled, at your command.
Supports that can be broken off and dissolved
Building and removing supports can sometimes feel like rocket science, but we've figured it out for you - stable support, clean interface, easy removal, and minimal post-processing to maintain high dimensional accuracy. Breakaway filaments provide the same support as regular materials but are much easier to remove without the need for additional finishing. J1 supports PVA and other soluble materials. Soak the print and the supports dissolve, resulting in a smooth surface and excellent dimensional accuracy. When you are looking for complex geometries, hollow structures and exquisite details, this is for you.
Printing of duplicate materials
In one and the same print, you can benefit from two sets of properties. Combine the strength of nylon with the flexibility of TPU for functional parts. Also print objects in multiple parts. Without mounting, the object gets stronger connections, making it less susceptible to damage.
Advanced extruder technology
300°C hot ends: 300°C maximum nozzle temperature is handy when printing with high temperature filaments such as nylon, reinforced nylon and PC. With silicone hot end socks that prevent heat loss, the filaments melt and heat up much faster. Anti-clogging constructions make the flow as smooth as possible.
Dual Direct Drives: Excellent extrusion accuracy that facilitates the extrusion of flexible filaments, coupled with the high responsiveness of dual direct drives to make laying faster, smoother and more precisely controlled. It is built-in with a filament sensor that informs you and pauses the print job in case of filament run-out, nozzle clogging and other filament loading failure anomalies.
Compact extrusion path: The compact extrusion path in a unique design allows you to print seamlessly with TPU and many other flexible materials.
Enclosed Space: It provides stable ambient conditions to facilitate consistent reliable performance for high temperature materials. It prevents, for example, ABS and many other materials from becoming warped.
Calibration is easily performed
We use electrical wiring to locate the two hot ends and the heated bed and measure the distances between the three units - a creative solution for complex IDEX calibration. This time saving allows you to complete the calibration in 10 minutes in assist mode. By removing the calibration card and the judgment, the number of errors is reduced and you get a better accuracy.
Hands-free XY Offset Calibration: When the two hot-ends touch the square opening on the heated bed, electronic signals are sent to suggest their exact positions, and the J1 calculates the offsets between them. The J1 then automatically compensates for the offsets during printing to ensure perfect XY alignment that avoids layer misalignment and improves the success rate of dual-material printing. It removes the long learning curve and saves you from reviewing a lot of lines. Press start and lay back for increased precision.
Tool-less bed leveling: A smooth print bed lays the foundation for successful 3D printing, but bed leveling of IDEX printers can be very time-consuming. Using a high-flatness PEI glass plate, the J1 can downsize from a 3 × 3 (9 points) or 4 × 4 (16 points) smoothing to a 3-point smoothing without compromising flatness and with 70-80% less downtime . Turn the leveling wheel as directed on the touch screen and the bed is leveled for top-notch adhesion of the first layer.
Easily managed Z-offset calibration: Using electrical wiring, the J1 can calculate the distances between both hotends and the heated bed. This way we could cut out the step of moving the calibration card back and forth when adjusting the Z offset. Just turn the thumb wheel as directed on the touch screen and you are now the Z offset calibration guru!
Custom PEI glass plate
The J1 build plate is made of glass and is completely flat, making your first layer smooth and self-adhesive. Shiny glass on one side and PEI coating on the other side, which facilitates the adhesion of different filaments. The plate can be easily removed making it extra convenient for maintenance and removal of prints.
Easily replaceable hot ends
Loosen the two screws on the hot-end, repair or replace the hot-end, and start printing again immediately. For the adventurer who wants more variety and advanced applications, we offer hot-ends with multiple diameters from 0.2mm for detail precision to 0.8mm for faster printing, as well as hardened hot-ends for technical materials.
Built-in nozzle dryers
Scrape excess material from the nozzles and stop the outflow from the currently active extruder to make multi-material prints free of lumps and strings. The extruder can start its print job in line without waiting for the currently active extruder to cool down. Switching between the extruders takes much less time, again minimizing downtime.
